If you only have a minute

The resumption of training a year ago went hand in hand with a weight loss (+ over 10kg) and I wanted to structure my practice thanks to the Campus... and I do not regret my choice!

Race day, total bliss! Race started with cadenced pace, right on target for the first 5 km. The pacer keeps us in check because I feel the legs are there and itching, but the big challenges are yet to come... First uphill of 2 km and I felt like holding back but kept the pace until the 12th km, and on a small climb I saw the group was over 200 m behind me. Then I decided to run my own race...

I apply my semi-pace to flat sections or slight climbs, and adapt according to my Pacer Pro plan on the last difficulty. I unleashed the horses: at 30' Threshold for the last 3 km!

Result 01:32:13! So happy, thanks Campus!

The full experience

What was your running experience before setting this goal?

Marathoner thanks to you since June, I had previously been running for 5 years from 2008 to 2013, participating in half-marathons (PR 01:38:30) and several 20km with elevation: Marseille-Cassis, Behoia San Sebastian... Everything came to a halt due to back issues following a problem during trail training. I put running aside and let life fatten me up.... The resumption of training a year ago went hand in hand with a weight loss (+ over 10kg) and I wanted to structure my practice thanks to the Campus... and I do not regret my choice!

How did your preparation go?

It was fantastic, a summer workout with all sessions validated. Progressivity, variety, difficulty (oh the 2* 25 min at 21km pace!!) accompanied me over 14 weeks of pleasure.

What was your goal in this race?

Break my Personal Record from 10 years ago in this race: 01:34:30

So on D-day, how did it go?

Total bliss!

The morning everything was set, my gear my snack package, and we arrived with my 3 mates 1h30 before the start to enjoy the atmosphere... A little warm-up, and I went to my starting block looking for who will be my best friend, Luis the pacer 01:33:00.

I apply my semi-pace to flat sections or slight climbs, and adapt according to my Pacer Pro plan on the last difficulty: an uphill of 1km between 16 and 17... Once on top, I knew it was good and time to secure my Personal Record, maybe more... I unleashed the horses: at 30' Threshold for the last 3 km!

Result 01:32:13, 10-year-old Personal Record smashed by 2:15...and feeling at the finish as if I still had something left in the tank. My first negative Split 46:29 for the first 10 km, 45:44 over the last 10! So happy, thanks Campus, thanks Luis the pacer for keeping me in check and thanks to Joan and the Bayonne campus team for the support and enthusiasm they communicated during my prep 🙂

What did you appreciate in Campus's accompaniment?

The rapid response to my questions, the growing community and working with and evolving like Niko, who inspires us with his performances, it's great!

And what's next for you?

A half-marathon in 15 days to complete the work and confirm the Campus brand, maybe go for a sub 1:35, then a 10km for pleasure to finish the year, and next year... A semi in spring, and a marathon in autumn!
