Today, we're leaving from Quebec to introduce you to a unique race. Welcome to the magnificent Charlevoix region, nestled in the heart of the boreal forest. It's in a landscape shaped by the impact of a meteorite that the Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada takes place. From September 5 to 7, 2025, dive into a timeless universe to experience something authentic!

Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada: Trail with Eyes and with Heart

The Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada is not just a simple race. It's an experience lived with the legs, with the eyes, but also (and perhaps especially) with the heart.

🇨🇦 An exceptional and renowned trail in Canada

The Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada, nicknamed UTHC, was established in 2012 under the initiative of some nature enthusiasts and of the Charlevoix region. They are also recognized as pioneers in the trail community in Canada

Initially quite low-profile, the UTHC has experienced steady growth until becoming a must-attend event for trail enthusiasts in Canada and far beyond its borders. One must say the event has strong points!

The courses go through spectacular landscapes: boreal forests, mountains, rivers, etc.. Each kilometer is an invitation to fully immerse yourself in this exceptional region. It is this unique environment that the organizers are committed to preserving by supporting local initiatives that ardently work for its protection.

Authenticity, discovery, friendliness, and respect — for others and for the playing field — these are the values of the Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada.

❤️‍🩹 The ultra-trail to support research against multiple sclerosis

The commitment of this trail goes even further. Thus, the race also has a strong philanthropic aspect

The story begins with the creation of the trail. Indeed, one of the founding members was suffering from multiple sclerosis, a condition that occurs when the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord. That's why the organization of the race raises funds for the SP Canada association.

Each year, more than $100,000 is raised and donated to the cause. Despite the tragic passing of the founding member who initiated this initiative, it continues and strengthens as the event grows.

The different race formats offered at the Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada

The Ultra-Trail Harricana of Canada is a multifaceted event. Away from offering only a single race in the ultra format, the organizers wanted to create numerous races of all distances for all levels.

This is partly what explains the success of the UTHC! 11 formats are on the schedule. You will surely find the one that suits you.

🤯 The “long” and “ultra” formats

If you are a fan of ultras and/or long trails, you might encounter some challenges… having to choose from the many formats offered! The peculiarity is that each of the races offers a linear course. Your finish point is thus not the same as your starting point. A shuttle system is obviously in place to allow you to easily reach the start and finish.

Specifically, you have the choice:

FORMATSPositive Elevation Gain

UTHC 125

4,200 meters

UTHC 80

2,800 meters

UTHC 65

2,200 meters

60 kilometers SP Canada

3,000 meters

UTHC 42

1,400 meters

42 kilometers St-Siméon

2,000 meters

💡 A small peculiarity of the format 60 kilometers SP Canada : the race is accessible by lottery only and all sales are donated to the SP Canada association.

💡The BIG « Plus »: the UTHC 125 is qualifying for the Western States Endurance Run 100! For that, however, you will need to complete it in under 26 hours. A spot in such a legendary trail must be earned!

🔥 The medium formats

Starting from these distances, the courses are in the form of loops with a return to the start.

💡 The 20-kilometer night team event is more than a race: it’s a party. No podium, costumes… The atmosphere is 100% festive!

🚀 The short formats

Accessible to everyone with a bit of training, these formats are perfect for beginners and/or speed enthusiasts.
